"You're sure this is safe, Dave?"
"Define safe!"
"We don't need to meet any happy hunters," Myx said.
"Happy to see a brightly colored target?" I was rather enjoying Myx's concern for a moment.
"Those aren't backfiring cars we hear, Dave."
"When is the last time anybody heard a car backfire?"
"I thought the cliche fit perfectly and you would let it go," Myx said.
There were shots being fired, most likely hunters with shotguns trying to bag waterfowl in the early morning light. There would be several shots, and then fainter echoes.
I have just one piece of advice for you, Myx."
"Here it comes," Myx sighed.
"Duck!"
